WordsCashback

CB

Short for cashback: a card’s rewards paid as money instead of points. HDFC Bank’s MITC, for example, credits it to the card account, from cashback offers or from points turned into cashback, and sets it against your next statement; it doesn’t count as paying the bill that’s already due.

It can be capped, and HDFC Bank’s MITC caps its Swiggy card at ₹3,500 of cashback a statement cycle. When a co-branded card’s partner advertises a cashback, RBI’s rules make the bank responsible for paying it on time, and liable if it’s late or doesn’t come.
