WordsAn offer made before you apply
Pre-approved
An offer of a card that a bank makes before you apply, picked from what it already knows: your accounts with it and your record at the credit bureaus. Axis Bank’s page, for example, says banks build these offers from bureau data and their own profiling of customers, and that the pre-approval itself doesn’t affect your credit score.
It’s still an offer. RBI’s rules don’t let a bank issue a card without your written or digital request and explicit consent, so you apply or accept first, and Axis Bank’s page says an application made on a pre-approved offer can still be turned down after the bank looks at your finances and credit history.
