WordsThe least you can pay
Minimum due
The least you have to pay by the due date so the bill doesn’t count as overdue and no late fee is charged. You still lose the interest-free period: interest runs on the unpaid balance from each purchase date, and on new spends until it’s cleared.
Each bank sets its own formula; HDFC Bank’s MITC, for example, includes all GST, EMIs and fees plus 5 per cent of spends and cash withdrawals. RBI’s rules say it can’t be set so low that the balance grows, and every statement has to warn that paying only this stretches repayment over months or years.
