WordsAirport lounges, on the card

Lounge access

Free visits to airport lounges as a card benefit, often a set number each quarter. On many cards you first have to spend a set amount: ICICI Bank’s MITC, for example, asks for ₹75,000 of spends in the calendar quarter before, and HDFC Bank’s leaves cash withdrawals, fees and EMIs out of the spends it counts.

How you get in varies: at HDFC Bank, by swiping the card at the lounge, which debits ₹2 and reverses it, or with a voucher you download after meeting the spend. Visits past the free ones are charged at the lounge’s rate, and the bank, which gives access through an aggregator, takes no responsibility for a lounge’s service or for being turned away.
